SHILLONG: Many barber shops here are not following the COVID-19 protocols issued by the district administration and health department in view of the pandemic.

As per protocol, all barbers should always wear face masks and also use gloves while serving their customers. However,

Several barber shops in the Police Bazar area are not following the protocol issued by the government.

While speaking to some barbers, they pointed out that as it is quite problematic to wear gloves while working.

When contacted, the Deputy Commissioner East Khasi Hills district Matsiewdor War Nongbri said, "If these shops are breaking the protocol then their shops will be shut down by the district administration."

She added that each barber should adhere to the guidelines set by the government to fight against COVID-19.

When asked, she said the administration will conduct surprise checking in the future and those found violating the guidelines will be published as per the law.
