Shillong: Matsiewdor war Nongbri took over as the second female deputy Commissioner (DC) of East Khasi Hills district on Thursday with a word to the officials and staffs that they should work 150 percent to address each and every individual of the district.
On the day where she took over the baton from Peter Dkhar as the DC, War categegorically told the officials and staffs of the office, “I am taking over the most prestigious district. I am looking forward for your co-operation. I believe in hard work and let’s not think of 100 percent but 150 percent in every endevourt that we collectively make.”
Knowing fully well the onus in her as the Deputy Commissioner of the district with a headquarter in Shillong, War said that she would like to take the mantle from her predecessor with the same dedication and hard work. Indirectly, she was vivid in adding that the work will be immense considering the May 2018 incident that nearly threw the entire city out of gear. “I know that it is tough to fill the shoes of our outgoing DC but our forward move should go in the same vein”, stated the new DC in her exhortation to the officers and staff of the office.
The outgoing Deputy Commissioner Peter Dkhar will take over as the Commissioner and Secretary of the Sports and Youth Affairs, and assignment that is hell-bent to take all his expertise from him ahead of the National games which the state will host. Dkhar in his farewell address said that he received all the support from his officers especially during the May 2018 incident. “The law and order situation did not break down because of the magistrates and the police wholehearted support”, stated Dkahr, while reminding the employees to ensure that every person who solicited help in one or the other should get their due share of reciprocation.
