SHILLONG: Girl students excelled in the Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) Arts stream which was declared by the Meghalaya Board of Secondary Education (MBOSE) on Monday.

Among the regular category of students, a total of 10,178 (85.84 per cent) girls passed, while 6,472 (76.45 per cent) boys cleared the examination.

In the non-regular category, while 847 (41.02 per cent) girls cleared the examination, 542 (28.85 percent) boys passed this examination. While the pass percentage of regular students is 81.93 per cent, that of the non-regular students is 35.22 per cent. The total pass percentage is 74.34 per cent.

St. Anthony's Higher Secondary School, Shillong, bagged the top three postion. The school has four students in the top ten list.

Mahima Sinha with 428 marks secured the first position. The second position was bagged by Ritishari Chyne with 427 marks and Chubakatila Jamir claimed the third position with 426 marks. The fourth position was jointly secured by Gideon Lyngdoh of Ram Krishna Mission, Higher Secondary School, Sohra and Paolenlal Kipgen of Seven Set Annexe, Secondary School, Shillong with 424 marks each.

St. Edmund's School Higher Secondary School, Shillong bagged five positions in the top ten. The school bagged the sixth, and joint eight, ninth and tenth positions.
