SHILLONG: The Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) government will take up the issue of implementation of Inner Line Permit (ILP) with Union Home Minister Amit Shah during his visit to Shillong.

Shah will inaugurate the plenary meeting of the North Eastern Council on January 23.

On Tuesday, after the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance meeting to discuss the issues to be taken up with the Union Home Minister, Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong said that the Government has sought an appointment with Shah.

Tynsong said that apart from taking up the resolution passed by the Meghalaya Assembly to urge the Centre to implement Inner Line Permit in the State, the other issues would be – inclusion of Khasi and Garo languages in the Eight Schedule, the Sixth Schedule and also the inter-state boundary dispute with Assam.

Tynsong also informed that the Meghalaya government has received a few applications from the NGOs expressing their desire to meet the Union Home Minister.

"Now arrangement is being made for appointment of the NGOs with the Union Home Minister," the Deputy Chief Minister said.

Tynsong informed that Shah will land at around 10 am in Shillong and head straight for the State Convention Centre where he will inaugurate the plenary meeting of the North Eastern Council.
