SHILLONG: Meghalaya on Sunday recorded 462 new infections, 570 recoveries, and two deaths from COVID-19.

With the latest figures, the State now has 4,558 active cases, 43,070 recoveries and 819 deaths.

Of the 462 new cases, East Khasi Hills recorded 153, Ri-Bhoi (70), West Jaintia Hills (51), South West Khasi Hills (43), West Garo Hills (37), North Garo Hills (34), East Garo Hills (28), South West Garo Hills (16), East Jaintia Hills (15), West Khasi Hills (13) and South Garo Hills two.

Of the 4,558 active cases, East Khasi Hills has 1,344 cases, West Jaintia Hills (735), Ri-Bhoi (668), West Garo Hills (597), East Garo Hills (262), North Garo Hills (259), South West Khasi Hills (189), South West Garo Hills (157), West Khasi Hills (136), East Jaintia Hills (119) and South Garo Hills (92).

Meanwhile, from Monday, the East Khasi Hills district administration has allowed plying of 20 per cent of taxis and auto-rickshaws in the Shillong Urban Agglomeration and 33 per cent in the rural areas.

However, the drivers have to prominently display whether they are vaccinated or not vaccinated.

The Deputy Commissioner, Isawanda Laloo also informed that with the district having a positivity rate of over 10 per cent, containment measure in the form of night curfew will be imposed from 7 pm to 5 am until further orders.
