SHILLONG: For the second day in a row, Meghalaya on Tuesday recorded more recoveries than new COVID-19 cases. The State recorded 57 new cases, 105 patients recovered and one died of the virus during the last 24 hours. While the total active cases of the State stand at 2,020, the recovered cases are 6,497; and the COVID-19 related toll tally stand at 76.
Director of Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman War informed that of the new cases, the maximum number of 26 have been recorded in East Khasi Hills district followed by 17 in West Garo Hills; three each in East Garo Hills, West Jaintia Hills and South Garo Hills; and two in East Jaintia Hills besides one each in North Garo Hills, Ri-Bhoi and South West Garo Hills.
Dr War also informed that of the 105 new recovered cases recorded on Tuesday, East Khasi Hills reported 66 (Armed & paramilitary forces: three; civilians: 63) followed by 15 in Ri-Bhoi, 14 in West Jaintia Hills; six in West Garo Hills; two each in East Jaintia Hills and South West Khasi Hills.
He further said that of the 1,89,783 samples sent for testing till date, a total of 1,81,190 samples tested negative. A total of 50,407 people entered Meghalaya till Tuesday, he added.
