SHILLONG: Meghalaya Chief Secretary PS Thangkhiew launched the online RTI portal at the Main Secretariat Building here recently.
Chief Secretary PS Thangkhiew urged the Deputy Commissioners to make use of this facility in order to serve the people of the State better and to improve the delivery mechanisms, so that there will be transparency and accountability in providing services to the citizens of the State.
The portal will facilitate applicants seeking information under the Right to Information Act.
The Portal can be accessed by the general public on the Hone Page http://megrti.gov.in by clicking in “Online RTI”.
In the first phase, the portal will be enabled for filing of RTI to all the PIOs in the Deputy Commissioners’ Offices and subsequently for all the POIs in the State. There is an online payment gateway for making payment of requisite fees under the RTI Act. The portal facilitates online reply to application and also for making first appeal and reply thereto.
The citizens can also check the real time status of their RTI applications/ first appeals filed online.
