SHILLONG: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma underscored the importance of investing in the realm of education to shape the State in the next 20-30 years. He said this during the foundation stone-laying ceremony of Rymbai Higher Secondayschool in East Jaintia Hills district, on Saturday.
The Chief Minister said, "We can plant flowers which will bloom for one year, plant trees that will last 10 to 20 years; but our government wants to plant people that will serve the generations to come." He further said that the priority of his government is to bring about transformational change in the education department through policies, even as he maintained that the task will be tough.
State Minister in-charge of Education LakenRymbui said, "We are trying to make the Education sector one of the best in the country."
