SHILLONG: Meghalaya Chief Minister, Conrad Sangma on Sunday inspected the flood-damaged portion of the AMPT Road at Bondumali, Tikrikilla in West Garo Hills. Heavy rains caused floods in West Garo Hills district damaging many road infrastructure there last week. "I have issued instruction to the authorities to immediately start the restoration work," the Chief Minister said after assessing the damage.

It may be mentioned that heavy rainfall following cloudburst had wreaked havoc in the Raksamgre and Tikrikilla areas, causing flash floods affecting over 1600 people and destructed houses, market places, educational institutions and agricultural lands. A major stretch of the AMPT Road and three bridges along the Phulbari -Tikililla lifeline — for Raksamgre, Rajabala and Selsella — were washed away by the water.
