Meghalaya Cop Sentenced To Five Year Jail Term For Molesting Minor Girl

The heinous crime took place back in January 24, 2013, when the convict had molested an eight-year-old minor girl inside her house.

Shillong: A police personnel in East Garo Hills of Meghalaya received a five-year jail sentence for molesting a minor girl back in 2013.

The policeman has been identified as Ajaybirth Ch Marak and he has been sentenced to a five-year jail term by the East Garo Hills district sessions and POCSO court.

It is to be noted that Marak happened to be a constable of the Meghalaya police.

The heinous crime took place back on January 24, 2013, when the convict had molested an eight-year-old minor girl inside her house.

Marak is already lodged in Williamnagar jail in Meghalaya at the time of the verdict ruled by the East Garo Hills district sessions and POCSO court.

Earlier, a POSCO court awarded life imprisonment to a former police officer for raping and threatening two minor sisters at a police station in Meghalaya's South West Garo Hills district in 2013.

The ex-cop was then the officer-in-charge of Ampati police station when he committed the crime against the two sisters at the police station.

The court also slapped a fine of Rs 8 lakh to be paid to the victims.

Islam, who was convicted under POSCO Act, raped a 14-year-old-girl at the Ampati police station on March 13, and also on March 14, 2013.

In the same year, on March 31, he rapped her 17-year-old sister too at gunpoint, following which the father of the victims filed an FIR against the officer in charge.
