SHILLONG: Meghalaya on Wednesday recorded 153 new COVID-19 cases, 176 new recovered cases and two more deaths. The total number of people who have succumbed to the virus has now risen to 70. The total number of active cases in the State is now 2,339. Altogether 5,582 COVID patients have recovered from the infection till date.

Of the 153 new cases, East Khasi Hills registered 104 (Armed & paramilitary forces: one; civilians: 103); West Garo Hills: 25; Ri-Bhoi: 11; East Garo Hills: six; North Garo Hills: two; and one each from East Jaintia Hills, South Garo Hills, South West Garo Hills, South West Khasi Hills and West Khasi Hills.

Of the 176 new recovered cases, East Khasi Hills registered 139 followed by West Garo Hills (20); Ri-Bhoi and West Jaintia Hills (five each); East Jaintia Hills (three); South West Khasi Hills: three (Armed & paramilitary forces: one; civilians: two); and South Garo Hills (one).
