Meghalaya on Friday registered 331 new COVID-19 cases and registered one death in the East Khasi Hills (EKH) district. Meanwhile, the State also recorded 177 new recovered cases in the last 24 hours, taking the total of recovered cases to 84,458.

SHILLONG: Meghalaya on Friday registered 331 new COVID-19 cases and registered one death in the East Khasi Hills (EKH) district. Meanwhile, the State also recorded 177 new recovered cases in the last 24 hours, taking the total of recovered cases to 84,458.

The tally of active cases has increased to 1,782, the Health Department said in a bulletin. The total number of fatalities from COVID-19 infection stands at 1,495 so far.

East Khasi Hills has the highest number of active cases with 1,217. West Khasi Hills has 25 cases, East Garo Hills has 13, West Garo Hills has 243, Ri-Bhoi has 123, West Jaintia Hills has 49, East Jaintia Hills has 36, South West Khasi Hills has 16, South Garo Hills has 15, North Garo Hills has 11, Eastern West Khasi Hills has 19 and South West Garo Hills has 15.

The 331 new COVID-19 cases that have been detected are from East Khasi Hills (239), Eastern West Khasi Hills (two), East Jaintia Hills (two), Ri-Bhoi (21), South Garo Hills (four), South West Khasi Hills (two), West Jaintia Hills (eight), West Garo Hills (44), North Garo Hills (one), West Khasi Hills (one), South West Garo Hills (one) and East Garo Hills (five).

The 177 recovered cases are from East Khasi Hills (138), West Jaintia Hills (three), Ri-Bhoi (nine), East Garo Hills (one), West Garo Hills (22), South Garo Hills (two) and East Jaintia Hills (two).
