SHILLONG: Meghalaya recorded two more COVID-19 deaths on Sunday taking the number of fatalities to 160. Meanwhile, 208 new cases were recorded on Sunday taking the number of active cases to 1,388.
The State also recorded 62 new recoveries taking the tally to 14,446, informed Director of Health Services (MI) DrAman War.
Both the fatalities were recorded in East Khasi Hills district. One of the casualties is Purnima Lama (45 years) of Dongkamon, Nongmynsong. She was admitted in Bethany Hospital, Shillong on April 23. She expired at around 4.30 am on April 25. The cause of death was ARDS with COVID-19 Pneumonia with Type-2 Diabetes Mellitus.
The other deceased person is SairaTynsong (54 years) of Darrang, Dawki, WestJaintia Hills. She was admitted into the Civil Hospital, Shillong on April 18. She breathed her last at around 1:10 am on April 25. The cause of death is COVID-19 infection with Type-I Respiratory Failure.
Of the 208 new cases, East Khasi Hills district recorded 161 (Armed Force/Paramilitary Force: six; civilians: 155); East Jaintia Hills: 14; Ri Bhoi:13 (Armed Force/Paramilitary Force: two; civilians:11); West Jaintia Hills: nine; East Garo Hills and West Garo Hills districts: four each; and South West Khasi Hills: three.
Of the 1,388 active cases, East Khasi Hills district has 1,008 (Armed Forces/Para Military Forces: 66; civilians: 942); RiBhoi: 131 (Armed Forces/Para Military Forces: five; civilians: 126); West Jaintia Hills: 122; East Jaintia Hills: 48; West Garo Hills: 32 (Armed Forces/Para Military Forces: three; civilians: 29); West Khasi Hills: 26; South West Khasi Hills: 13; East Garo Hills: five; South West Garo Hills, South Garo Hills and North Garo Hills districts: one each.
Dr War also informed that of the 4,49,420 persons tested for the virus till date, a total of 4,33,426 tested negative while 15,994 are confirmed cases.
