Meghalaya Government organize activities for World Environment Day

SHILLONG: The Government of Meghalaya is organizing a series of activities during the World Environment Day Celebration 2023. The theme for this year is “Beat Plastic Pollution”.

The Dorbar Shnongs in collaboration with the Meghalaya State Pollution Control Board (MSPCB) will organise Community Sensitization, River Cleaning and Plastic Clean-up Campaign on 3rd June, 2023, from 8:30 AM onwards, in 8 localities in Shillong namely Demthring, Nongrim Hills, Umpling, Rilbong, Demseiniong, Pynthor Nongmynsong and Urkaliar.

Further, on the occasion of World Environment Day Celebration 2023, the Forest and Environment Department and MSPCB will be organizing a Bicycle Rally on 5th June, 2023, at State Central Library from 7 AM onwards to create mass awareness on saving energy, reducing carbon foot print and to be healthy and fit.

As part of the World Environment Day celebration 2023, the Shillong Municipal Board in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Professionals Studies on 5th June 2023 will also be organizing a one-day awareness programme through a short street play on ‘Zero Littering Programme’ at 5 strategic locations from Dhankheti to Police Bazaar from 10 AM onwards, a press release said.
