SHILLONG: The Meghalaya High Court on Monday said that the concern of the Airport Authority of India (AAI) that due to cluster-I coming in the way of the landing of the aircraft there may be some difficulties on the construction of the airport at present “does not appear justified”.
The Meghalaya High Court’s observation comes after the judges visited the Airport on June 17.
“However after visiting and examining the site of the airport, prima facie, we are of the opinion that the concern of the Airport Authority of India does not appear to be justified,” a division bench of the High Court said.
According to the High Court, earlier, the Airport Authorities pointed out that due to cluster-I coming in the way of the landing of the aircraft, there may be some difficulties on the construction of the airport at present. It may be mentioned that on June 17, the airport was visited by the Court along with the respective counsels.
The report by the Registrar General has been prepared and it was directed to be placed on record. The High Court also directed that a copy of the report be placed on the record of the second file and be given to the Amicus Curiae as well as to the other counsels.
