SHILLONG: The Hynniewtrep Youth Council (HYC) central executive committee (CEC) has asked the State government to immediately address the issues and demands raised by the ASHA workers.
"ASHA workers are an integral part of the institutional healthcare structure in our Country and our State. ASHAs, which are meant to act as an interface between the community and the public healthcare system, has been deployed as the first line of defence to manage the pandemic. During this pandemic time, they have been tasked by the government to conduct a door-to-door survey of the returnees, collect information, check for symptoms and monitor the health and wellbeing of people who are quarantined besides delivering them medicines and other kits," HYC-CEC general secretary Roy Kupar Synrem said on Monday.
In this connection, the Council has also submitted a memorandum to Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma, Health Minister AL Hek and DHS Dr Aman War.
