SHILLONG: Meghalaya on Sunday registered 318 new COVID-19 cases and registered one death in the East Khasi Hills (EKH).

Meanwhile, the State also recorded 198 new recovered cases in last 24 hours, bringing the total number of recovered cases to 84,841. The tally of active cases has increased to 2,121, the Health Department said in a bulletin.

The total number of fatalities from COVID-19 infection stands at 1,497 so far.

East Khasi Hills has the highest number of active cases with 1,437. West Khasi Hills has 28 cases, East Garo Hills has 12 cases, West Garo Hills has 319 cases, Ri-Bhoi has 143 cases, West Jaintia Hills has 61 cases, East Jaintia Hills has 34 cases, South West Khasi Hills has 21 cases, South Garo Hills has 18 cases, North Garo Hills has 12 cases, Eastern West Khasi Hills has 16 cases and South West Garo Hills has 20 cases.

The 318 new COVID-19 cases have been detected in the East Khasi Hills (201), Eastern West Khasi Hills (three), East Jaintia Hills (one), Ri-Bhoi (24), South Garo Hills (one), South West Khasi Hills (two), West Jaintia Hills (six), West Garo Hills (70), North Garo Hills (one), West Khasi Hills (two), South West Garo Hills (eight) and East Garo Hills (five).

The 198 recovered cases are from East Khasi Hills (140), South West Garo Hills (three), Ri-Bhoi (six), East Garo Hills (one), South West Khasi Hills (four), West Garo Hills (28), South Garo Hills (two), West Jaintia Hills (eight) and East Jaintia Hills (six).
