SHILLONG: Meghalaya, on Monday, recorded eight more COVID-19 deaths and 541 new infections while another 409 has recovered from the virus, informed Health authorities. As on date, the State has logged 1,048 total deaths; and 5,456 active cases even as 56,510 persons have recovered from the virus so far.

Of the eight deaths East Khasi Hills district recorded four, Ri-Bhoi district two and West Jaintia Hills and West Khasi Hills districts recorded one each. Of the 541 new infections, East Khasi Hills district recorded 244, West Garo Hills district 109, West Khasi Hills district 62, Ri-Bhoi district 45, South West Khasi Hills district 23, West Jaintia Hills district 21, East Jaintia Hills district 13, East Garo Hills district 10, North Garo Hills district and South Garo Hills district six each and South West Garo Hills district two.

Of the 5456 active cases, East Khasi Hills district has 2065, West Garo Hills district 925, Ri-Bhoi district 604, West Jaintia Hills district 580, West Khasi Hills district 407, South West Khasi Hills district 336, East Jaintia Hills district 138, North Garo Hills district 123, East Garo Hills district 114, South Garo Hills district 89 and South West Garo Hills district 75.
