SHILLONG: The Meghalaya Health department will be meeting this week to discuss the continuous rise of COVID-19 in the State. It will also finalize the need to impose lockdown in certain districts where daily positive cases are increasing. This was informed by Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong.
The Deputy Chief Minister was also conferred the Health portfolio recently after a reshuffle in the State cabinet.
''This week I will be calling a meeting with officials and doctors from the health department to discuss on this alarming increase of positive cases each day in the State,'' he said. When asked, he also informed that the meeting will also discuss if there is a need to reintroduce lockdown in East Khasi Hills and other districts of the State where COVID-19 cases are surging.
