Meghalaya police seized trucks on illegal transportation of coal

Shillong: The Meghalaya police’s recent crackdown on illegal transportation of coal from the State yielded positive results. According to a source in the police department, a written FIR was received from SI E Pohchen of Phramer Traffic Cell that on March 12 while conducting mobile patrolling along the National Highway they detected three coal-laden trucks. While the drivers of the trucks were not on the scene, all three trucks have been detained at Phramer Traffic Cell.

The FIR has been forwarded to the Jowai police station for registration of a case. It may be mentioned that in the past 15 days, scores of coal-laden trucks were intercepted by the police.
