SHILLONG: Meghalaya recorded another COVID-19 death on Sunday taking the State's tally to 26. The total number of active cases in the State is 1,623. There was also 55 new recovered cases on Sunday taking the total to 2,075, informed the Health department.

Meanwhile, a total of 30 people have tested positive for the virus at the Raj Bhavan on Saturday. Samples of the staffs of the Raj Bhavan were taken on Friday.

Health authorities informed that Peter Kharkongor (70) of Wahthapbroo was brought dead to Nazareth Hospital on Sunday morning. "He was brought at 5:20 am on September 13. Rapid Antigen Test was done at 5:39 am and the result was positive," said Director of Health Services (MI), Dr Aman War informed.

Meghalaya on Sunday recorded 109 new cases, with East Khasi Hills accounting for 85 of them (Armed and paramilitary forces: 27; civilians: 58); followed by West Garo Hills: 13 (Armed and paramilitary forces 10; civilians: three); Ri-Bhoi: nine (Armed and paramilitary forces: three; civilians: six); and East Jaintia Hills: two.

The districtwise cases of new recovered cases are - East Khasi Hills 30 (armed and paramilitary forces two, civilians 28), West Garo Hills 23 (armed and paramilitary forces 15, civilians 8) and Ri-Bhoi two.
