SHILLONG: The number of active cases in Meghalaya is declining since the State is now recording lesser number of new infections. According to health authorities, on Tuesday the State recorded 65 new cases, 101 new recoveries and one death.

The lone death recorded on Tuesday was from East Garo Hills district and the person was not vaccinated. With the latest figures, the State now has 1,439 total deaths, 740 active cases and 80,900 have so far recovered from the virus.

Of the 65 new infections, East Khasi Hills recorded 43, West Jaintia Hills district nine, West Khasi Hills district six, Ri-Bhoi district and West Garo Hills district two each and East Garo Hills district, North Garo Hills district South Garo Hills district one each.
