SHILLONG: Meghalaya has registered 297 COVID-19 active cases till Wednesday afternoon. The highest 461 cases are from the East Khasi Hills district. Of these, while 198 are from among BSF personnel; 14 are from the armed forces; and 49 are civilians.

Besides, there are 22 active cases in the Ri-Bhoi district; eight from West Garo Hills; two each from East Jaintia Hills and South Garo Hills; and one each from East Garo Hills and North Garo Hills.

One BSF personnel has recovered from the virus at Tura in West Garo Hills, bringing the total number of recoveries to 47.

State Health and Family Welfare Minister AL Hek informed that 28 new cases were reported (19 BSF and Armed Forces 9) on Wednesday.

Hek also said that of the 25,263 samples samples sent for testing till Wednesday afternoon; while 24,597 samples yielded negative results, the report of 320 results are awaited.

Residents of the State who entered Meghalaya till Wednesday afternoon are 21,977.
