SHILLONG: Meghalaya on Monday witnessed a substantial number of persons recovering from COVID-19, even as five new deaths were recorded. As per data provided by the State's Health department the State recorded 523 recoveries and 273 new cases.

Of the five new fatalities, East Khasi Hills district recorded three and South Garo Hills and West Garo Hills recorded one death each.

With the latest figures, the State now has 4110 active cases 49830 has so far recovered from the virus and till date 913 has succumbed to the disease.

Of the 273 new cases, East Khasi Hills district recorded 98, Ri-Bhoi district 55, West Garo Hills district 51, West Jaintia Hills district 32, North Garo Hills 13, South Garo Hills district eight, East Garo Hills district seven, West Khasi Hills district four, East Jaintia Hills district three and South West Garo Hills district two. South West Khasi Hills district did not record any new infections on Monday.

Of the 4,110 active cases, East Khasi Hills has 1304, Ri-Bhoi 787, West Garo Hills 610, West Jaintia Hills 511, West Khasi Hills 244, North Garo Hills 163, East Jaintia Hills 115, East Garo Hills 113, South Garo Hills and South West Khasi Hills 98 each and South West Garo Hills 67.
