SHILLONG: Meghalaya, on Saturday, recorded another 95 COVID-19 cases taking the number of active cases to 649, informed Director of Health Services (MI), Dr Aman War. Of the 95 fresh cases, 50 were reported from East Khasi Hills, 16 from West Jaintia Hills, 11 from West Khasi Hills, 10 from Ri-Bhoi, six from East Jaintia Hills, and one each from South West Khasi Hills as well as West Garo Hills. Of the 95 new cases recorded 52 are returnees.
East Khasi Hills district is the most affected with 475 active cases (Armed Forces/Para Military Forces: 33; civilians: 442); West Jaintia Hills: 97; Ri-Bhoi: 33 (Armed Forces/Para Military Forces: three; civilians: 30); East Jaintia Hills: 16; West Khasi Hills: 15; West Garo Hills: eight (Armed Forces/Para Military Forces: two; civilians: six); South West Khasi Hills: four; and North Garo Hills: one.
The State also recorded 11 recovered cases on Saturday taking the total number to 13,997.
The total number of persons tested till date is 4,33,687 out of which 4,18,889 were negative and 14798 are confirmed cases. Also the number of entrants from outside of Meghalaya till Saturday afternoon is 1,05,232.
Dr. War informed that of the total 1,72,197 number of Covishield doses administered so far, as many as 45,646 persons have been administered both the doses of the vaccine so far.
