SHILLONG: Meghalaya on Wednesday recorded 28 new COVID-19 cases, 177 recoveries and one fresh death. With the number of new cases recording a low for the third consecutive day, the number of active cases has come down to 1870, the total recovered cases has gone up to 6,674. However, the number of deaths went up to 77, informed Director of Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman War.

Of the new cases, 12 were recorded in East Khasi Hills, six in West Garo Hills, five in West Jaintia Hills, two in East Garo Hills, two in South Garo Hills and one in East Jaintia Hills.

Dr. War also said that of the 177 new recovered cases, 104 were registered in East Khasi Hills (Armed & paramilitary forces: one; civilians: 103); Ri-Bhoi: 43 (Armed & paramilitary forces: 37; civilians: six); West Garo Hills: 14; North Garo Hills: seven; West Jaintia Hills: three; South West Garo Hills, South West Khasi Hills and West Khasi Hills: two each.

Of the 1,91,490 samples sent for testing, a total of 1,82,869 were negative. Till date, a total of 8,621 have been infected by the virus.
