SHILLONG: The State Investment Promotion Board, Planning, Investment Promotion, and Sustainable Development Department held the Meghalaya State Roundtable for the North East Global Investors Summit on Wednesday at the State Convention Centre, Shillong.
Dr. Joram Beda, Commissioner and Secretary, Planning, Investment Promotion, and Sustainable Development Department, in his address and presentation on investment opportunities in Meghalaya, highlighted the advantages of investing in Meghalaya. He informed that the state has made several reforms to ease the ease of doing business; the Single Window System (SWS) is one such initiative that promotes a business environment with focus sectors in tourism, agriculture and food processing, sports, health, education, handloom, handicrafts, textiles, and IT/ITES sectors.
In his address, Harpreet Singh, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Development of the North Eastern Region (DONER), briefed on the potential of the north eastern states to attract investors in various focus sectors. He expressed optimism that the investors will continue to engage with the state government and the Ministry of DONER by providing opportunities to the potential investors in investing according to their sectors apart from the focus sectors, stated a press release.
Following the inaugural function, an open interactive session with investors was chaired by Pravin Bakshi, Commissioner and Secretary, Commerce & Industries, followed by a B2B and B2G interaction.
