SHILLONG: The number of recoveries from COVID-19 has been marginally, yet steadily taking over that of infection in Meghalaya on a daily basis over the past few days with 125 patients recoverring even as 90 new positive cases were detected across the State on Sunday.

As on date, Meghalaya has registered 5,302 COVID-19 cases, including 1,480 active, 43 deaths and 3,779 recoveries.

East Khasi Hills district, which includes Shillong, continued to remain the most affected district in the State with 971 active cases (923 civilians and 48 from among armed and paramilitary forces personnel).

Of the new cases detected on Sunday, Director Health Medical Services (MI), Dr. Aman War said, 69 were from East Khasi Hills, 16 from West Garo Hills, two from South West Garo Hills and one each from North Garo Hills, South Garo Hills and West Khasi Hills.

On the other hand, the new recoveries on Sunday include 56 civilians and 37 from among armed and paramilitary forces in East Khasi Hills, 17 from among armed and paramilitary forces in Ri-Bhoi district, eight civilians from East Jaintia Hills district, three civilians from South Garo Hills district, two civilians from South West Garo Hills district, one from among armed/paramilitary forces in West Garo Hills district and one civilian from East Garo Hills district, said Dr War.
