SHILLONG: Three MLAs from Garo Hills has written to the State’s Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) to provide the certified copy of the electoral roll for the year prior to March 25, 1971. In the letter to Frederick Roy Kharkongor, Rajabala MLA, Dr Azad Zaman of the Congress, Phulbari MLA, Estamur Mominin and Selsella legislator, Ferlin Sangma both of the National People’s Party informed that a good number of persons from the State, both tribal and non-tribal, who were married in Assam were excluded from the final draft of National Register of Citizens (NRC).

“We urge you to take all immediate necessary measures to facilitate the certified copy of the electoral roll for the year prior to March 25, 1971, to all the aggrieved persons who approach to the concernedChief Electoral Officer without causing any inconvenience to them,” the letter signed by the three MLAs said.
