MWCD mandates usage of fortified wheat flour, edible oil, and salt in midday meals

Shillong: The Joint Commissioner, Food Safety, Meghalaya, has informed that the directives by Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) and Ministry of Women and Child Development (MWCD) have mandated use of fortified wheat flour, edible oil and salt in midday meal (MDM) and ICDS programmes. All wholesalers and distributors are advised to procure fortified brands of edible oil from manufacturers for marketing and distribution in the State, as this would improve the availability of fortified edible oil in the market which will not just help the general public but also enable safety net programmes to use it in their respective projects.
