Shillong: A National Deworming Day programme was inaugurated on Thursday at Khliehriat Presbyterian High Secondary School, East Jaintia Hills district. The programme was attended by the East Jaintia Hills district, FM Dopth as the chief guest, District Medical & Health Officer, Dr J lakiang, Medical and Health Officer I/C Khliehriat, CHC, Dr NP Suchiang, medical staff, the vice principal, teachers and students of the school.
Dr Suchiang in her speech informed the students that the National Deworming Day is observed twice a year in the month of April and October. The objective of this programme is to deworm children from 1 to 19 years of age.
While addressing the occasion, DC said that deworming medicine will be given through the platform of schools, Anganwadi centres and public health centres. He also requested parents to educate their children so that they can become great assets of the country.
