National Deworming Day (NDD) To Be Observed today in East Khasi Hills

SHILLONG: National Deworming Day (NDD) will be observed on October 25 in all schools and Anganwadi centres of East Khasi Hills district with an aim to intensify efforts towards eradicating Soil Transmitted Helminths (STH).

The objective of National Deworming Day is to deworm all pre-school and school-age children between the ages of 1-19 years through the platform of schools and Anganwadi centres in order to improve their overall health, nutritional status, access to education and quality of life.

The Deworming Day will be followed by a Mop-up-day (MOD) on October 31 with the intent of deworming children, who missed the dose on October 25. All schools and Anganwadi centres will be the implementation sites of NDD across the district.

In addition, the office of the District Medical & Health Officer, East Khasi Hills district will launch NDD 2019 at Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Shillong at 11 am.
