SHILLONG: The Secretary, Meghalaya Human Rights Commission, has informed that the National Human Rights Commission has opened entries for its ninth annual competition for short films on human rights. It has received a tremendous response so far from various parts of the country. The aim of the award scheme is to encourage and acknowledge the cinematic and creative efforts of Indian citizens, irrespective of their age, towards the promotion and protection of human rights.

The last date for receiving the entries is September 30. Entries have to be sent online at nhrcshortfilm@ gmail.com, using the Google Drive folder. The prize money for the first, second, and third best films will be Rs. 2 lakh, Rs. 1 lakh, Rs. 50 thousand, and Rs. 1 lakh, respectively. The Commission, in addition to three cash awards, certificates, and trophies, may also consider giving a Certificate of Special Mention along with a cash prize of Rs. 50 thousand each to some films, if so recommended by the Jury. The short films may be in any Indian language with sub-titles in English or Hindi. The duration of the short film should not be less than 3 minutes or more than 10 minutes.
