New Meghalaya Assembly Complex By 2022: Speaker Donkupar Roy

Shillong: Speaker of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly Donkupar Roy said that the new Assembly complex will be up by 2022, a year that Meghalaya will complete its fifty years of its Statehood. Meghalaya is without a permanent legislative complex since January 2001. However, Speaker Donkupar Roy told this correspondent on Wednesday that it is a matter of two to three years that the new building will come up at the new Shillong township. “Work is in progress and the old process of clamouring for space is over”, he said. Making it clear that the new building will be completed on time, Roy was categorical in stating that this time there will be no laxity on the part of the government in executing the plan for the new Assembly building.
