SHILLONG: Former Independent legislator from South Tura, John Leslee K Sangma on Saturday clarified that his comment on National People’s Party (NPP) candidate Agatha K Sangma as “Nil-Moni” was his “personal feeling”.
It may be mentioned that recently, Sangma, during a rally to drum up support for Congress candidate from the Tura Parliamentary seat, Dr Mukul Sangma christened, Agatha as “Nil-Moni”
“I have given the name Nil-Moni to the former MP who represented Garo Hills for seven years in the Parliament for her complete lack of responsibility and accountability to the voters by not attending Parliament sessions and for bunking 51 per cent of the sittings and for giving zero performance in all her duties,” Sangma said.
He stated that the Congress has nothing to do with christening the NPP candidate from Tura seat as “Nil-Moni”.
The former South Tura MLA said that, it was his personal feeling and it was done to express his disappointment for the representative who let Garo Hills down.
Sangma also pointed out that Congress party which is a well established party does not need him to win this election and he was not even a member of the party. Leslee said it was his my way of participating in this election process as a former legislator by supporting the party (Congress) whom he sees as giving Garo Hills the fittest candidate.
