MEGHALAYA: The National People's Party announced the final list of candidates who would contest the upcoming elections to the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC), 2021 on the 2nd of March 2021 in Tura, West Garo Hills, Meghalaya.

The Election Committee set up by the Party is pleased to announce the names of the following candidates sponsored by the Party and wish them the best for the forthcoming elections.

The elections to the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) will be held on April 9 and counting will take place on April 14.

The GHADC has 30 members – 29 elected and one member nominated by the Governor.

The filing of nomination papers by the contesting candidates will start on March 8 and the last date for filing of nominations is March 15.

Scrutiny of nominations will be held on March 15 at 3 pm, and the last date for withdrawal of candidature is March 19.

It is to be mentioned that the five-year term of the GHADC has expired on October 18, 2020.

Meanwhile, Meghalaya chief minister, Conrad Sangma laid the foundation for the up-gradation of the Rongram-Phulbari road in West Garo Hills for Rs 139 Cr, one of the oldest roads in Garo Hills used during Former President of India, Dr Rajendra Prasad's visit to the region in 1952.

It is to be mentioned that this will improve connectivity along 40 villages in the region.
