SHILLONG: The National People's Party (NPP) on Friday lashed out at the Opposition leader Dr. Mukul Sangma by stating that it was his very own government which was ignorant and had a careless attitude towards the ILP issue.

"His (Mukul) government had constituted a high level committee (HLC) on ILP in 2012. The committee recommended ILP, however the Congress rejected the recommendation of the HLC of which then Deputy Chief Minister Bindo Lanong was the chairman," State president of NPP youth wing Nicky Nongkhlaw told reporters here.

He also said that Lanong criticised the government over its inaction as well and stated that the constitution of the committee was a waste, since Congress had refused to take action over it.

"If Mukul did not listen to a seasoned politician like Bindo Lanong and to a committee appointed by his own self, how can we expect him to listen to the voice of the people," he said.

He also pointed out that when pro-ILP groups are agitating during the then Congress government in Meghalaya led by Dr. Mukul Sangma in 2013 the State was in disarray.

"Our own leader (Mukul) was then busy enjoying foreign tours and later had the audacity to justify that it as a learning trip," he said.
