Poshan Mela Held At Farmers’ Market In Williamnagar

WILLIAMNAGAR: The District Program Officer, ICDS, East Garo Hills in collaboration with the district administration organized the Poshan Mela at the Farmers’ Market in Williamnagar on Thursday where the line departments including self help groups and the Anganwadi workers put up stalls, stated a press release. Inaugurating the mela, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Aloysius Ch Marak, lauded the District Program Officer (DPO), ICDS, for organizing the mela. He said that the Prime Minister had launched this programme for women and children of the country in terms of nutrition.

In the mela, the DPO, ICDS, Bansara Nengnong, while delivering the keynote address, informed the gathering that Poshan Maah aims at reducing malnutrition, anaemia, etc., and urged the line departments to take steps towards the welfare of women and children.

District Medical and Health Officer Dr Janulla K Marak presented a talk on nutrition and anaemia during the mela while the PPC staff of Williamnagar Civil Hospital demonstrated the hand washing techniques to the gathering.
