SHILLONG: The current government has failed in all aspects and when it comes to law and order situation in the State, it seems that the youths are being pushed to insurgency. This statement was made by Ardent Miller Basaiawmoit in Shillong on Tuesday.
"The government has failed and with the number of IED bombs being planted, there is an immediate need to strengthen the intelligence of the police department to curb the increasing trend of planting these bombs in different parts of the city," he said.
The former Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) CEM also said that despite claims from the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) government of having strong intelligence inputs on various activities of the banned HNLC, they were still unable to prevent the planting of IED bombs across the State. When asked, he said, "There is a need for the government to call our youths for peace talks and come over ground without any pre-condition." He added, "When the government itself has failed in delivering on many fronts, how will you expect these youths to agree to talks with pre-conditions?"
