SHILLONG: The Additional Deputy Commissioner in-charge of Pynursla Civil Sub-Division passed a prohibitory order has under Section 144 CrPC prohibiting any persons, organizations etc. indulging or resorting to the act of illegal hunting, poaching or any acts of wanton destruction of flora and fauna in Pynursla Civil Sub-Division.
The order has been necessitated in view of the recent wildlife case No. CR(S) 73 of 2020 where a Himalayan black bear was allegedly poached by some residents of Mawpyrthuh village. There has also been oral reports of such unrelenting destruction, hunting and poaching of wild flora and fauna especially indigenous to this areas being willfully carried out by some unscrupulous elements in remote and interior areas under the sub-division.
The step has been taken as a preventive and awareness measure with regard to the various relevant Forest & Environment Acts and Wildlife Protection Acts.
The order is also a measure to check clandestine acts of wanton destruction of such valuable resources and to deter such elements in the interest of the local economy and wellbeing of the people, the order added.
