Pyrwa Lymba Declared As New Dolloi of Darrang Elakaship

SHILLONG: Pyrwa Lymba was declared uncontested as the new Dolloi of Darrang Elakaship by Deputy Secretary-cum-Returning Officer of the Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC) E Shylla this afternoon.

Pyrwa was the lone candidate who filed the nomination paper for the election of the Dolloi of Darrang Elakaship within the scheduled date of September 12 and 13 as notified by the JHADC.

As per notification issued by the JHADC, a person should be from either Ryngskai clan or Lymba clan/Kongwang clan/Syngkrem clan and he must be 25 years old or above and a faithful of Niamtre Religion.

The Dolloi of Darrang Elaka governs over five villages namely Dawki, Shnongpdeng, Pyrwa Lymba, Kongwang and Darrang-Rikynjai.

The election was necessitated as Beringson Kongwang who was the Dolloi passed away August 26, 2017 and for a temporary period, the JHADC appointed Kalbin Syngkrem as acting Dolloi few days after Kongwang’s demise.
