SHILLONG: As the polling day grows closer, the frequency of political leaders attacking each other has also increased in the states of Nagaland and Meghalaya. Rahul Gandhi was campaigning for the candidates of his party in Shillong on Wednesday when he compared the Bharatiya Janata Party with a “class bully”.

Addressing a polling campaign in the state, the former president of the Indian National Congress took the attack to several of the parties. The Bharatiya Janata Party was one of the main targets for the leader in this rally when he called the ruling party in the centre the class bully who does not respect anyone and thinks that he knows everything.

Rahul Gandhi also took a jibe at the Trinamool Congress alleging they of fighting on behalf of the Bharatiya Janta Party in Meghalaya. He also mentioned that the sole reason for the party to participate in the elections is to make sure that the Bharatiya Janata Party is able to form the government in the state.

"The BJP-RSS is like a class bully who thinks he knows everything, understands everything and has no respect for anybody else. We have to fight them collectively," mentioned Rahul Gandhi while saying that the Indian National Congress will not let the Bharatiya Janata Party damage the language, culture and history of the state of Meghalaya.

"I am wearing it as a sign of respect for your culture and tradition. My actions reflect this jacket. But, if I was to come here, as the prime minister does, put on this jacket and attack your religion, culture, history and language -- I would be insulting you, " he added.

He did not leave the Conrad Sangma-led Meghalaya Development Alliance as well and called them out to be involved in the large-scale corruption in the state in the last five years.
