SHILLONG: The State Bank of India, Khanapara branch, Ri-Bhoi district has been closed down temporarily after an employee tested positive for COVID-19, Meghalaya State Health and Family Welfare Minister, AL Hek said.

"Soon after we got the report we closed the bank and soon started contact tracing of the person who came into contact with the person. Bank is in Meghalaya but the person is found positive in Assam hence it is not recorded in the list of cases in the State. Since they are tested in Assam," Hek told reporters.

The Health Minister said that the government got this information on Tuesday and the State chief secretary spoke to the Ri Bhoi deputy commissioner and it has been found that all the necessary protocol has been followed.

"The Deputy Commissioner has informed all the people residing there who came into direct contact with this person, has to report to the district administration or District Medical and Health Office of Ri-Bhoi.

Meanwhile, Hek also informed that Chief Minister who had gone to Manipur on Sunday and returned back to the State has tested negative for COVID-19.

The Health Minister said that the general protocol is that anybody going outside the state and coming back the same day has to undergo testing and if the tests are negative then only one can join work. (IANS)
