Shillong registers 3 more COVID-19 cases; Meghalaya active cases reach 57

Guwahati: 3 more COVID-19 positive cases have been confirmed in the Meghalaya capital Shillong on Thursday, July 9. With these latest detections, the number of active cases in the state has risen to 57.

It has been reported that out of the 3 new cases, one is a Border Security Force(BSF) personnel and the other two infected patients are returnees from Bihar and Delhi respectively.

Meghalaya CM Conrad Sangma shared this information in his tweet quoting " 3 more tested positive for COVID19 in Shillong. 1 from BSF and 2 returnees from Bihar and Delhi."

Meghalaya had registered 2 more cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, July 9. After the detection of these fresh cases, the number of cured patients stands at 45 and the active cases in the state stand at 54.

It has been reported that out of the 2 fresh cases, one is a Border Security Force (BSF) personnel, while the other is a civilian from the Ri Bhoi district that borders Assam. "Two more persons tested positive for COVID19. One from BSF and one civilian from Ri Bhoi", Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma's late-night tweet read.

India's coronavirus count increased to 7,42,417 on Wednesday as it recorded a rise of over 22,000 COVID-19 cases in a single-day, even as the recovery rate further improved to over 61.5 percent, according to Union Health Ministry data.
