Shillong's Lad Smit market closed after COVID-19 positive patient found mingling with crowd

Guwahati: The District Magistrate of East Khasi Hills District issued July 27 issued an order suspending the operation of Lad Smit Market in Shillong, the state capital.

The decision comes following reports suggesting that one person who tested positive for Covid-19 on July 27 was found mingling with the shopkeepers and pedestrians at Lad Smit Market on July 23.

The order will remain valid until any further orders. According to the District Magistrate's order, all persons who were at Lad Smit Market on July 23 are requested to undergo self-isolation or quarantine. If any symptoms develop over the course of time, they are directed to report to the helpline number (108).
