SHILLONG: The Bangladesh authorities may have denied the existence of Indian insurgent camps units soil but the truth remains that a couple of top leaders of the proscribed 'Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council' (HNLC) are still still in the neighbouring country, carrying out business activities to sustain themselves and the outfit.

Among them are its self-styled commander-in-chief Bobby Marwein, his close luetannts — Bah Hep Metal and Bullet. Well entrenched inside Bangladesh, they reside in the Khasi villages of Sylhet, Sunamganj district. This was confirmed by a well placed sources.

The State police are aware of this fact, but its intelligence sharing with the other agencies seem to yield little results. The outfit's general secretary, CheristerfieldThankhiew surrendered before Meghalaya police in 2019. He too confessed of staying in Bangladesh for many years previously.

The moot point: Have the State police tried to extract from him the actual location of the fugitives who keep on issuing statements through their e-mails?

Though the State police believe that the HNLC is a spent force, questions are being asked on why the inputs are not being shared with the other security forces. "If they share the specifics with us, we can easily share the information with the DGFI (Directorate General of Forces Intelligence) or the BGB (Border Guards Bangladesh) to act," stated a source adding, "it is not difficult to trace them even if they live there using alias names".

Intelligence personnel know that the surrendered HNLC general secretary knows about the whereabouts of his colleagues in Bangladesh.
