SHILLONG: The SSA in Meghalaya has alleged that the government has not made their due payment of salaries even after providing services for months.

The teachers in Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) in the state of Meghalaya have announced their decision for a mass march against the state government to fulfill their salary payment demands.

The decision from the teachers comes as the deadline provided to the Meghalaya government to pay salaries to the teachers ended on Monday 28 February 2022.

Numerous agitations were held through rallies by the SAA teachers previously in different parts of the state following their demand to get fulfilled.

Earlier the teacher of the Indian government programme SSA had warned the state government about making their protest more intense in case the government fails to fulfill their demand of salary payment that been pending for at least five months.

Notably, the state government has not paid the salaries of the SSA teachers from the month of October last year until February this year.

The teachers had set a final demand regarding their pending salary on Monday 28 February after not receiving their salaries for more than five months.

Despite the warning from the SAA teachers association, the government has not completed the required payment process within the given time period.
