State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) rescues 10 locals in Meghalaya

SHILLONG: The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) on Tuesday rescued 10 locals from Ialong village in West Jaintia Hills of Meghalaya, who were marooned by the sudden flooding of the Wah Myntdu River following heavy and incessant rains in the State.

The SDRF team comprising of 11 personnel was led by Sub-Inspector Tesland Mukai. Arriving at Ialong village, the SDRF team took over from the local rescue efforts initiated by local residents and Fire and Emergency Rescue Service team and commenced the rescue operation immediately.

The operation which was supervised by B Warjri, District Home Guards Commandant, West Jaintia Hills, lasted for two hours and saw the team successfully rescuing 10 local residents from the flooded Pynthor Ialong area.
