SHILLONG: The Sur Ehrngiew ki Nong Malki or the Voice of Malki People has demanded the State Government to immediately suspend the police officers involved in the alleged firing incident that killed former general secretary of Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC), Cheristarfield Thangkhiew on August 13.
The spokesperson of the forum, Junestar Kharbuli said that the residents of Malki and its adjoining areas had decided to extend full support to the demand made by the people of Mawlai to suspend the alleged 'trigger-happy' cops.
"We the Voice of the people of Malki strongly condemned the action of the police personnel involved in the killing of Thangkhiew," he said. "We also demand the State Government to immediately issue a suspension order against all the police personnel who are part of the operation team, within one week," he added.
Kharbuli also warned that failing which, the people of Malki would have no other option but to call for a massive rally on September 6.
On the other hand, the spokesperson said that the forum would also mobilize support by urging residents of Laitumkhrah and Nongthymmai to join hands in the rally to demand justice for Thangkhiew.
