SHILLONG: A 13-year-old boy lost his life after an altercation with another group of boys and villagers of Dinggok in North Garo Hills (NGH) district of Meghalaya. The incident has sparked outrage in local circles. It took place around 6 pm on March 4.
According to reports, the victim and his friends had gone to the village to visit his father. While they were waiting at a spot, the boys struck up a conversation with some girls; and this led to an altercation with some of the local boys.
"Some local village boys did not like their chat with the girls. An argument turned into a full-fledged altercation. Later some villagers came out to support the assaulters, and they severely beat the boys. The victim succumbed to his injuries on the same night," confirmed NGH Superintendent of Police, Abraham T Sangma.
